Copiya

Privacy Policy

Copiya runs entirely on your iPhone. It has no servers, and nothing you copy or capture ever leaves it.

Effective October 9, 2026

Who we are

Copiya is published by RELUDE LLC, an Oregon limited liability company in Portland, Oregon, USA (“we”, “us”).

What Copiya collects

Nothing. Copiya has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporter and no tracking. We never receive any of your text, screenshots, screen captures, pages or usage information. The only thing we ever receive is an email you decide to send us (see “If you email us”).

What stays on your iPhone

  • Your Copiya Clipboard: text you choose to add with “Add to Copiya Clipboard” in Copiya, the Safari extension or the share sheet. It is stored only in Copiya’s private container on your iPhone, excluded from iCloud and device backups, and deleted automatically 24 hours after you add it (it can no longer be used after that, and is erased from your iPhone the next time Copiya or one of its extensions runs).
  • Screenshots and images you hand to Copiya (a double-tap, the photo picker, the share sheet) are read on your iPhone with Apple’s on-device text recognition and are not saved by Copiya. The text from your most recent double-tap is held in memory, never written to storage, so the “Select Your Text” button can reopen it; it is gone at your next double-tap, when Copiya closes, or when you use Delete Everything. Copiya never reads your photo library: pictures you pick with the photo picker are the only ones it sees. When you tap Save to Photos, iPhone asks once to let Copiya add pictures; that permission is add-only, so Copiya still can’t see your library.
  • Captures are saved only where you choose (Photos, Files or another app via the share sheet).
  • Copies you make in the Copiya app go to this iPhone’s clipboard only (never Universal Clipboard). “Paste all” clears itself from the clipboard after 60 seconds. Copies you make on a web page with the Safari extension use Safari’s own copy, exactly like copying text yourself.
  • Settings such as whether you finished setup, and whether Copiya Premium is active.

Nothing runs or changes without you

Copiya installs nothing on your iPhone, and sends one kind of notification, only if you allow it: a short note about Copiya OverFlow (that a screen you triple-tapped was saved, or that a capture finished while Copiya was not on screen). Each note replaces the last. It is made on your iPhone by Copiya itself; nothing is sent to or from anyone. The shortcuts, Back Tap and the Safari extension are each turned on by you, step by step, in Apple’s own Shortcuts and Settings apps, and you can turn any of them off there at any time. Deleting Copiya removes the app, its extensions and everything it stored.

Copiya OverFlow (Copiya Premium)

Copiya OverFlow collects posts, chats and stories that don’t fit on one screen. The first time you use it, Copiya asks whether it may see your screen for this. It works in two ways, and both happen only when you do them.
• Triple-tap: each time you triple-tap the back of your iPhone, Apple’s Shortcuts app takes one screenshot of the screen you are on and hands it to Copiya, which adds it to your OverFlow set. Nothing is taken between taps. If you allow notifications, a short banner confirms each one.
• Start capture (for long jobs): you start it in Copiya or, on iOS 18 or later, from its Control Center button, and iPhone itself asks you first on its own “Start Broadcast” sheet. iPhone shows its recording indicator for as long as the capture runs.
• A capture lasts only from the moment you start it until you finish it: the recording ends the instant the capture does, and Copiya cannot see your screen at any other time.
• While a capture is running, Copiya can see whatever is on your screen, in any app, including notifications that appear. Start it only when you are happy for what is on screen to be captured, and finish it when you are done.
• Copiya does not record a video and never records sound. It looks at each frame in memory and saves only still pictures: screens that stopped moving; during a long scroll that doesn’t pause, a screen about every half screen, so nothing between pauses goes missing; and a single still frame of a video that is playing on a page you have stopped on. A screen that matches the last one saved is skipped, and everything else is discarded at once. Those pictures are kept in Copiya’s private container on this iPhone, excluded from iCloud and device backups.
• Copiya never records what you type. It has no access to key presses. Because a screen capture can show the on-screen keyboard, Copiya checks every saved screen and deletes the ones where it recognises the keyboard before you see them. iPhone itself also hides passwords from screen captures. Do not type private information while a capture is running.
• Copiya’s own screens are never saved.
• Saved screens delete themselves 10 minutes after the last one was added (they can no longer be used after that, and are erased from your iPhone the next time Copiya or one of its extensions runs), or sooner if you tap the trash button or start a new capture. A capture stops by itself after 3 minutes or 30 screens.
• Nothing from a capture is uploaded, streamed or shared by Copiya. Pictures and text leave Copiya only when you save, copy or share them.
• While a capture runs, Copiya shows a Live Activity (in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen) with the Copiya mark, a count of saved screens or a timer, and a Done button. It shows no content from your screen.
• What you capture belongs to whoever made it. Use Copiya OverFlow for your own reference, and follow the rules of the apps and sites you use it with.

Safari extension

The extension only runs on websites you allow it on in Safari. It never reads form fields, text you type, passwords or editable areas, and it never sends anything over the network.
• Selecting on a page: when you tap Copiya in Safari’s page menu, it reads that page’s visible text so you can select words. It copies only the words you choose, and sends Copiya only what you ask it to: words for your Copiya Clipboard, or the address of a page you ask Copiya to capture.
• Whole page on double-tap: when you leave a page, the extension hands that page’s readable text and address to the Copiya app on the same iPhone, so a double-tap in Safari can open the whole page. Only the last page you left is kept, and each new one replaces it. Copiya uses it only if your double-tap screenshot shows that page, deletes it as soon as it has checked it, and never uses one more than a minute old. A page that was never checked stays only until the next double-tap or the next time the extension runs, which replace or clear it. Private Browsing tabs and pages that contain a password field are never handed over. To stop it completely, turn the Copiya extension off in Settings › Apps › Safari › Extensions (on iOS 17: Settings › Safari › Extensions).

Page capture

When you ask Copiya to capture a web page, Copiya loads that one address in a private web view on your iPhone, the same way a browser would. The website you asked for, and services it loads pictures, fonts or frames from, can see that request, as with any visit. No cookies are kept afterwards, third-party scripts on the page are blocked, and links are never followed.

Purchases

Copiya is free to download. Copiya Premium is an optional subscription or one-time purchase bought through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells the Copiya app on your iPhone whether it is active; we never see your name, your Apple Account or your payment details. Apple’s handling of purchases is covered by Apple’s own privacy policy.

Deleting your data

Copiya keeps nothing on a server, so there is no account to close and no request to send: you delete everything yourself, at once, on your iPhone.
• Settings › Delete Everything erases your Copiya Clipboard, any OverFlow screens, any page handed over by Safari and any cached files immediately. Nothing is kept behind and it cannot be undone.
• Deleting the app removes the app, its extensions and everything Copiya stored.
• Copiya also deletes by itself: the Copiya Clipboard 24 hours after each item is added, OverFlow screens 10 minutes after the last one, a page handed over by Safari as soon as it is checked (and never later than a minute), and “Paste all” from the clipboard after 60 seconds.
• Pictures or files you saved to Photos, Files or another app are no longer Copiya’s: delete them in that app.
• Purchase records are held by Apple, not by us. Manage them in iPhone Settings › your name. To cancel Copiya Premium, tap Cancel subscription in Copiya’s Settings, or go to iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions.

If you email us

The one time we receive anything from you is when you choose to write to us. Settings › Report a problem is a short form: you write what happened and, if you choose, add a screenshot. Your iPhone model, iOS version and Copiya version are included unless you turn that off. Send then opens Apple’s Mail sheet inside Copiya with all of it filled in, addressed to us; you can see and edit everything, and nothing is sent unless you tap Send in Mail. It goes from your own email account, and Copiya keeps no copy. We then have your email address and whatever you wrote. We use it only to answer you, never for marketing, and never sell or share it. We delete support emails within 12 months of the last message, or within 30 days if you ask us to.

This website

The Copiya website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, embedded videos, social buttons or outside fonts; everything it shows comes from the site itself. Like every website, the company that hosts it receives the standard information your browser sends to load a page (your IP address, browser type and the page you asked for) and may keep it in short-lived server logs for security and to keep the site running. We don’t use that information to identify you or for advertising, and we don’t combine it with anything else. The site has no forms; writing to us works as described in “If you email us” above.

Children

Copiya does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Your privacy rights

The Copiya app collects no personal information, so there is nothing from the app for us to sell, share, disclose, correct or delete, in Oregon, California, Europe or anywhere else. Everything Copiya stores is on your iPhone and under your control. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising. If you have emailed us, you can ask for a copy of that correspondence, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to the same address; we answer within 30 days and never treat you differently for asking.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear in the app and on our website with a new effective date.
